WZM ( Military Automotive Plant ) in  Poznan are going to service and repair gear boxes  Renk AG to tank engines of Leopard 2A4/A5 used in the Polish Army. The cooperation agreement was concluded on 2nd December 2015 in Augsburg. This is the next, tremendous step into extending WZM’s responsibilities with regard to main repairs of Leopard tanks.

The agreement includes the transfer of  both technologies and knowledge.  WZM’s employees will be also trained in upgrading  HSWL 354 gearboxes of Leopard 2A4/A5 to the third level.

This is the next, after the MTU Friedricheshafen GmbH company ( Leopard 2 engine manufacturer ),  strategic partner of  Transmission Units Center  operating in WZM.

This is the next step for our  Center. We are pursuing our strategy consistently and successfully. This centers on extending cooperation with foreign partners and transferring know-how.  Broadening our responsibilities guarantees further technological development of our Company and therefore enables to achieve the key points of modernizing programmes of  the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland – underlines Elżbieta Wawrzynkiewicz, the CEO of Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne S.A. in  Poznan.

The development of unique , in our country, technical and productive potential in the area of engines will ensure achieving relative independence of deliveries and service of driving units and therefore will confirm and reassert defensive potential of our country –  says WZM’s CEO.

The agreement with Renk AG  complements  WZM ‘s abilities to service and fully renovate both power-pack driving units  – of MTU MB 573 Ka-501 engine and torque converter Renk HSWL 354 which is joined with the units.

In September 2014, one of the world’s best manufacturer of military engines, MTU, which is  a part of Rolls-Royce Power System Ag., became WZM’s partner. They worked on the project of  Transmission Units Center.
